Library Support During Online Teaching Transition

The library is working to support faculty as much as possible in an online teaching environment. Consider the following resources and services and how they might support the move online.

Library Resources

Library Online Resources

  • When searching Primo, exclude titles that are available in the library. All library e-resources are accessible on and off-campus Some materials are not indexed in Primo, so reach out to Email a Librarian if there is something, in particular, you are looking for and not finding. See Linking to Cook Library E-Resources for more information on integrating these resources into Canvas.

Converting Print Resources to Digital Formats

  • If a book you wish to add to your syllabus is currently only available to you in print, the library may be able to purchase a multi-user ebook copy for your class to use. Please reach out, and we are happy to check our vendors.

Acquiring articles for Canvas

  • Through ATLA, MCLS, SCELC and direct purchases, Cook Library has access to many full-text databases.  They may not seem relevant to your specialization, but they do contain content that is relevant to your teaching and studies.
  • We urge you to search for your citations using the Primo Citation Linker
  • If Cook Library does not have what you need electronically, please coordinate with the Educational Technology office to have your content digitized.

Information Literacy and Research Support

Research Question Support

  • The library will continue to respond to emailed research questions through Email a Librarian or directly with a librarian. Chat reference is available depending on library hours and staff availability.

Virtual Library Instruction for an Online Class

  • We can create Research Guides that highlight specific online resources and tools.

  • Would you like librarian support embedded in your online course? Consider adding your library staff member as a teaching assistant or teacher to your Canvas course. Please consult with us on the particular areas of the course in which you would like us to be involved.

  • The library continues to support research assignments through our online resources. If access to needed physical resources is limited, contact Email a Librarian for assistance.
