How to Renew Books Online

Materials can be renewed through a link in the courtesy notice or they can be renewed at the library website.

  1. Go to the library website at guides.westernsem.edu/ and select Renewing Online under “Services.”
  2. Click on Login to your account.
  3. Select the Loans Tab.
  4. Click on item(s) currently checked out.
  5. Either click on Renew All or click in the box to the left of the title you want to renew. Then click on Renew marked.
  6. If any difficulties are encountered, please contact the Circulation Supervisor at 616-392-8555 ext. 139 or by email library@westernsem.edu.

Courtesy emails of overdue materials or book requests will be sent to your email account from circulation@westernsem.edu with the subject as “Courtesy Notice.” Please check your “spam” account if these notices are not appearing in your inbox. If notices are not found, email The Circulation Supervisor at library@westernsem.edu. Whether or not you receive the courtesy notice it remains your responsibility to return the material within the due date period.

Renewing Your Account

Library Accounts for Western Theological Seminary Faculty, Staff and Students are routinely created as a batch process from Blackbaud, the Seminary's Student Information System.

If you need to make changes to the contact information that the library has on file in Alma/Primo, please see the registrar about updating your information in Blackbaud.

Cook Library cards are valid for 1 year from date of issue.

The cost of a guest library card is $30, with discounts given to alumni and clergy users.

Please fill out the form below to apply for or renew your Cook Library card.

Hope College users may use their Hope College ID card at Cook Library.

Please see the attendant at the Cook Library circulation desk for more information.

Due to technical limitations, the self-service kiosk at Cook Library is not available for holders of Hope College ID cards.
